Prickly Box (Bursaria spinosa, Sweet Bursaria, Christmas Bush) It has two Aboriginal names: geapga and kurwan (Dharawal). Bursaria spinosa is a medium to large shrub or small tree native to Tasmania and the East Coast of Australia. The fragrant flowers are known to attract butterflies to the garden. A unique candied honey with a sweet delicate flavour, pleasant aroma and overtones of Marzipan.
While the Australian native Bursaria spinosa plant can flower at any time of year, in Tasmania it typically flowers around Christmas time, hence one of its common names is the “Christmas bush”.
